I am still upset and stressed about the event that occurred earlier today; my friend saw his girlfriend's bike being almost stolen (he caught the young thieves in act and scared them away) and then a little bit later we walked to his place and found out that robbers had broken into two of his neighbours' apartments. I was really shocked! After I called the police, we waited for a half an hour for the neighbours to arrive. They were just as shocked and upset as we were. Although they called the police again, the police hadn't arrived when I left my friend's place after waiting for one and half an hour. Of course the police is nowhere to be seen when they are actually needed, but I suppose it being Malmö it is possible that they had also lots of other crimes to solve. My friend texted me later that the police had apparently showed up but hadn't cared to talk to us, witnesses.
I have calmed down a bit now, with the help of chocolate and The Big Bang Theory, but it is still very upsetting to think that these things happen just in front of your nose. We all know that “bad” thing happen but you just never expect them to happen to you. Naive, I know. So now I really have to get out and get myself an insurance, just in case. I was thinking about it already then when the apartment in the next house was burning last month, and after the incident today I think the insurance is even more needed.
As the thieves stole the TV and laptops from one of the apartments today, I suppose I have to start hiding my laptop every time I go out. I'm not really worried about the TV as I got it for free and it being so heavy it is unlikely that anyone would try to carry it away. And after that burning apartment I have started unplugging all the electric appliances every time I leave the apartment (even if I only take out garbage) and testing the smoke detector although I am really scared of that terrible sound it makes. At least it's working. Otherwise, I don't have anything else valuable here really. Some plants, four seasons of Lost and a huge pile of magazines. I would miss all of those, though.
Let’s just hope I won't turn into Sheldon (from The Big Bang Theory, if you aren’t already in love with the series) who decided to move into another state after the robbers broke into his place. Oh yes, I have been watching way too much The Big Bang Theory! I remember the first time I saw an episode of TBBT few years back and I found it rather stupid back then but that has changed. For example, I stayed up til 4am last night watching 17 episodes of the forth season of TBBT. I hope this series doesn't get cancelled any time soon, I really enjoy it.
And now some Youtube videos:
I fell in love with this song while watching the Academy Awards last weekend:
And while waiting for the police I accidently heard this one, a Swedish singer Lykke Li:
